Donald Brashear's NBA Contest
Wait, did something happen? Hello?
Ok, in the spirit of full disclosure, my name is really Dan Steinberg, and in addition to doing a sports blog for the Washington Post, I do a sports blog for the Washington Post. (Waits to see if still employed.)
Anyhow, I'm on vacation for two short days. In those two short days, which aren't even over yet, one of my ex-co-workers, guy by the name of Ape, seems to have gotten himself into a bit of a scrape, which maybe I'll discuss at some point. Or maybe not. And another of my co-workers, guy by the name of Wise, seems also to have gotten himself into a bit of a scrape, possibly changing the future of Philadelphia fandom forever. Other than that, not much going on.
Neither of those two developments were enough to make me come out of a computer-less two days. But this was: Donald Brashear just called and told me he's running an NBA playoffs pool on his Web site (grand prize: $500) and he needs people to enter. If you haven't figured this out already, when Donald Brashear tells you to do something, you do it right quick. Why? He punches people a lot harder than does Michael Tunison.
So anyone who's reading this--whether you're a fan of the NHL, the NBA, the Ape, Mike Wise, or the dreams of Olympic archers--go here right now and enter.
Enjoy the next few days. And feel free to leave 250 comments about Unsilent Majority on this thread, if you'd like. Except for all of you who only come to the WaPo site to let us know that you never come to the WaPo site.

respect on the love for brashear but... i was expecting something slightly more scathing re: christmas ape/bloggers in general. i'm from dc but go to school in boston and i'm embarrassed that the post pulled that move. On the bright side, the caps won today and the wizards looked good enough in game 1 that i have confidence for the series. Cleveland will continue to get more calls than even the 98 bulls, but i still think we can beat them

Mike Wise time warp: He writes as if Fred Shero is still coaching the Flyers, Dave Schiltz is still mauling people, and we're still mauling the Red Army team....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1_jFoB3RQM
The Fred Shero quote at 1:05 into the clip is classic: "If we lose, then I think it will be worse than dying."
