Flyers Fans Say Bad Words

Bad word warning.

And give this to Flyers fans; they're not subtle. Any fan base that can mobilize more than 10 supporters to chant profanities in unison can't be too bad, right?

Bet that stadium smelled like fat cheese farts

Posted by: Johnny | April 16, 2008 6:53 PM

You stay classy, Philly!

Of course, these are the same yahoos who booed Princess Briere when he was in Buffalo, taunted Biron.

What's this "Vengeance" stuff, anyway?

If the Caps don't do it, the next team will silence this Philly rabble.

Posted by: Game Over Green | April 16, 2008 8:05 PM

Stop crying...

F&%# Ovechkin!

Posted by: Philly Fan | April 16, 2008 9:18 PM

@Philly Fan

Win a championship! *clap clap clap-clap-clap*

Posted by: SuperCaps | April 17, 2008 9:56 AM

Caps fans really shouldn't point to Championships as an argument stance.

Posted by: Pot-Kettle | April 17, 2008 11:42 AM

As much as I disdain Philly fans (and I usually don't generalize like this, but Philadelphia sports fans are an exception), I have to agree with the previous comment: "Caps fans really shouldn't point to Championships as an argument stance." This should be very obvious. And I also applaud the use of the moniker "Pot-Kettle". Nicely played.

On a side note, I just think it is a shame that such a wonderful city, full of history and lore, is inhabited by such distasteful people with no sense of sportsmanship or respect in general.

Posted by: Mike | April 17, 2008 12:40 PM

Yes, Mike, because FedExField is the Mecca of good sportsmanship. It's the only place I've ever seen a man (Redskins fan) hit a girl (wearing an Eagles jersey).

Stay classy, DC!

Posted by: teddy | April 17, 2008 1:13 PM

@teddy

FedEx Field is in Landover, Maryland... not D.C.

Posted by: Right | April 17, 2008 1:53 PM

Flyer fans using F%&# is so much like a 5-yr-old just discovering the word. Who cares what a bunch of follow-alongs in orange on an escalator have to say?

Posted by: Grooven | April 17, 2008 2:44 PM

"@Philly Fan

Win a championship! *clap clap clap-clap-clap*"

LOL, WHAT? What do we have? A Mystics Attendance Banner?

Posted by: caphcky | April 17, 2008 5:57 PM

Teddy... dude...
Are you even going to attempt to equate the kind of filth that comes out of Philly with one moron in a Redskins jersey? Let's suppose that you're not making this up completely and some Redskins fan really did 'hit' some poor female Eagle fan. Here's my question: So? Seriously, it is disgusting for any man to hit a female, regardless of what sports teams they support. But this one guy then represents all of DC sports fans? No. See, at least when we generalize about Philly fans, its grounded in something a little more substantial and documented. I mean, didn't an entire stadium (just about) pelt Santa Claus with snowballs? Give me a break, man. You and I both know there are plenty of other incidents that we could go through to demonstrate the classlessness of Philly fans in general.

Posted by: Mike | April 17, 2008 6:16 PM

Great sports video - post it on www.sportsfananza.com - a new sports fan video site.

Posted by: z | April 17, 2008 11:55 PM

flyers have 2 stanley cups...how about the caps....for whom ever said win a championship first....wrong sport to say that this isnt the NFL....have fun watchin the next round by the way.

Posted by: bigt | April 18, 2008 2:06 AM

I think the Capitals are just jealous of the sports fans in Philly i mean yea were old school, we dont a freaking horn to get our crowd going, we are all heart, unlike a 65 goal scoring cry-baby Russian.

Posted by: FlyersRule | April 18, 2008 10:48 AM

I just don't understand why Philly fans hate Ovechkin. What did he do or say about Philly?

And FlyersRule says that Ovie has no heart and is a cry-baby?! That's the first time I've ever heard that one. In fact, all I see and hear from every news outlet in the world is the exact opposite.

I guess the world and you will have to agree to disagree.

It's ok Philly fans, laugh and shout and point fingers (of your choice) and call names and spew expletives all you want this year. Enjoy it now cuz we'll be waving "bye-bye" to you in our rear-view mirror starting next year.

Unless of course we rattle off 3 straight wins. But that's never happened before, so it won't be happening now...

Posted by: Sam | April 18, 2008 1:24 PM

This comes from someone who lives in a city where not only was your Mayor a crack addict - you re-elected him.

Posted by: Go Flyers | April 18, 2008 2:13 PM

mike you are just a typical outsider who brings up philly fans throwing snow balls at santa claus as evidence of how bad the fans in philly are...do you have any idea as to why they threw snow balls at him?...because he was being a drunken idiot thats why...so please next time you want to make your point on how bad the fans are bring up another instance and not one that you have no idea about

Posted by: | April 18, 2008 2:31 PM

Actually Sam, Caps came back from being down 3 games to 1 against the Flyers before, so it can happen.

Anywho, Flyers fans are die-hard. Do we chant @$$hole? Of course! We aren't going to hide our feelings or disdain. We wear our hearts on our sleeves. We know the rules of the game and when a bad call is made we let the ref's know we aren't happy. Are we loud? Do we love our steel cage gladiators? Hell yeah!! Philly is a city of blue collar workers who live and die with their sports teams.

Don't be mad at Philly fans because we know how to work the game. We can get our teams pumped up and totally demoralize the other teams and their fans. That's what fans are supposed to do. Encourage their team. Not sit there like a bunch of bumps on a log!

Washington fans, in ever sport, have done some "classlessness" things, too Mike. No city can say their fans are free of criticism.

Let's Go Flyers!!!

Posted by: Drewsov | April 18, 2008 2:38 PM

What I don't understand is why you troll D.C. blogs. Don't you have your own? Is your life that shallow and empty that you have nothing better to do than to look to talk smack to a few bloggers on our local papers blog? Really? I am sorry for you all. I am sorry your lives collectively suck.

Posted by: Tyler Durden | April 18, 2008 4:09 PM

I'm sorry Tyler. I thought the Washington Post was one of the top 5 papers in the country. Didn't realize that it was just limited to Washington, D.C.

If you and your paper want to talk smack on people in other cities, then you better expect that people are going to respond.

By the way, I'm from Oakton, VA, so the Post is my paper too. You're pathetic.

Posted by: Drewsov | April 18, 2008 4:20 PM

LOL ovechin that cry baby tell him to sign up for diving lessons hahah u caps fans are sick i love it LETS GO FLYERS LETS GO FLYERS

Posted by: | April 18, 2008 4:36 PM

Hey its me again, and i never said Ovie, as creative as that name is... had no heart, come-on be realistic hes a great player, but i meant that the CROWD has no heart Philly rules, i mean seriously a HORN?? come on now, we dont need a horn we have heart, and we hate Ovie, because, well its PHILLY!!! LETS GO FLYERS!!

Posted by: FlyersRule | April 18, 2008 6:07 PM

Hey guys we should really stop saying bad words, or big wittle 'ol D.C. might start crying again.... :'(

Posted by: FlyersRule | April 18, 2008 6:11 PM

"Hey its me again, and i never said Ovie, as creative as that name is... had no heart..."
Posted by: FlyersRule | April 18, 2008 6:07 PM

Really? See your earlier post:

"...we dont a freaking horn to get our crowd going, we are all heart, unlike a 65 goal scoring cry-baby Russian."

Posted by: FlyersRule | April 18, 2008 10:48 AM

just wanted to point that out... GO CAPS!

Posted by: Sam | April 18, 2008 11:32 PM

Well guess i meant him too =P go caps, LOL! thank God you guys won the division now we are going to the next round easily.... F%$# OVIE!!!

Posted by: FlyersRule | April 19, 2008 8:22 AM

Just more evidence that Philadelphia sports fans are useless scum. Absolute trash.

Posted by: Jim | April 19, 2008 9:14 AM

Yes, we're all useless trash. You will never understand Philadelphia unless you live there. I didn't hate Ovechkin until he took a dive in game 3 when he acted like he was in a ton of pain until he drew the penalty. Then he got up and skated off no problem. That is classless hockey. Philly fans can be jerks, but it stems from our passion for the sports and our players. Why shouldn't we give our team every edge they can get at home? That's the point of going to a game. I find it funny that we get a bad rap for our passion.

Posted by: K-Mart | April 19, 2008 1:39 PM

I don't care what the philly fans think, but that is completely messed up. The philly fans complain about us "whining." Really, I'm a hockey fan, but when I have kids, and if they're hockey fans, I would want to take them to some games. But I definately wouldn't want to take them to this kind of a place.

and this is probably the dumbest comment I've ever seen:
"LOL ovechin that cry baby tell him to sign up for diving lessons hahah u caps fans are sick i love it LETS GO FLYERS LETS GO FLYERS"
Wow. I don't think you should call someone like Alexander Ovechkin a "cry baby." Considering he's gotten stitches and a broken nose in the middle of a game and come back to play. And he's broken the glass with a hit.

Oh, and what is with the Flyers featuring fights? Fights don't win games, goals do.

and "Vengeance Now?????" What is up with that? Vengeance of what?

The Caps fans have a lot more energy focused on firing up their team then on screaming profanity at the other team. There's no good reason for dropping the f-bomb in such a public setting.

How about this comment:
"I think the Capitals are just jealous of the sports fans in Philly i mean yea were old school, we dont a freaking horn to get our crowd going, we are all heart, unlike a 65 goal scoring cry-baby Russian."
First off, if you don't want to look like an idiot, you can't screw up a third of your sentences. Secondly, the caps fans don't "need" a freaking horn. You guys are not "all heart." You guys are mostly not heart. In general, the fans in phily are into screaming profanity with no relevance: the "a** holes" chant I heard was completely random.

And don't say Ovechkin has no heart. He has a ton of energy. I think that's pretty obvious. And what does it matter that he's Russian?

And how did the Washington Post let you post this video right here :P?

Posted by: C A P S Lets go Caps! | April 20, 2008 11:17 AM

Yeah you philly fans really support your team, just ask Donovan McNabb after he played through numerous injuries for your team and you guys bashed him non-stop. I hope you guys got your d cell batteries and your phillies season tickets ready cuz your hockey season is about to be over.

Posted by: I hate philly | April 21, 2008 10:35 AM

To borrow a phrase from that rocket scientist Barak Obama, I think Philly sports fans act the way they do because they have miserable lives and are bitter.

Posted by: Joe | April 21, 2008 12:27 PM

philly fans are an enigma. They've never won ANYTHING EVER yet have this sense of accomplishment.

In the famous words of Kevin Blackistone "They had the capital, they lost that. they had the liberty bell, they cracked that. they have the most losing baseball franchise in baseball history, the eagles have never won a superbowl. LET'S JUST FACE IT, THEY'RE BORN LOSERS!!!"

Keep being proud of being the most obnoxious racist vulger pieces of trash in the sports world.

Posted by: POC | April 21, 2008 3:43 PM

Vengeance - noun - 1. The act of taking revenge against an opponent to justify offense 2. Retribution

Let's think about this. Last year everyone (or at least if you watched hockey) knew that the Philadelphia Flyers were the very worst team in ALL of the NHL. We gave several teams a lot of points, so technically people should thank us. Now if you have enough common sense, you should be able to figure out the "Vengeance" theme. But if you need help understanding, here you go. By reading the definition above, vengeance is basically taking revenge. Everyone walked all over the Flyers last year. This year they were going to come back strong (and they did) to take revenge on teams in the NHL. I hope this helps for the people who are in our nations capital and don't know how to use a dictionary.

Now in regards to the screaming profanity (get over it) with no relevance, yes it was a**holes. I guess you can say certain teams have an additional 2 (sometimes 4) players on the ice. These players would be the refs/linesmen. Now if a player is favored (ex: Crosby and Ovechkin), lets just say they have a friend. Being on the other side of this is frustrating. I know you don't see it because in this series it was in your favor. I wanted to make sure I wasn't being the "typical fan" that thinks the refs/linesmen are against your home team, so I decided to watch another game that had nothing to do with the Flyers. It was the first series game involving the Penguins and Ottawa. Let's just say that by the calling in that game, you knew Ottawa wasn't going to make it. I suggest everyone try this out sometime. It is absolutely amazing! Unfortunately you will have to experience this in the next round (guessing that you won the series). We'll be here to hear you vent. It is very frustrating.

And I'll end it here to POC. You say Philly never won anything. Really?!?!? I would maybe look back in time. The internet is an amazing tool. You can find out so many things!

Posted by: Class (Philly Fans) vs. Immature (Washington Fans) | April 22, 2008 7:47 PM

WOW!!! What class the Washington fans showed by throwing garbage at the Flyers during the interviews for ALL hockey fans to see. REAL CLASS.

F%*# Ovechkin.

Posted by: Washington class fans | April 22, 2008 10:19 PM

BAAHAHAHAHA have a great post season Caps we still have some hockey to play!! And even after the Flyers season is over I am going to watch my beloved Phillies while you guys can go watch your JOKE of a baseball team. And also, regarding a comment that was made earlier about Philly fans hating McNabb; its all media spin that blows that stuff way out of proportion. The majority of people I know love the guy. So stop believing everything that you hear. And one last point: Your Wizards with Agent-Zero are getting worked by Lebron right now while our 76ers are enjoying a 1 game lead over the Pistons. You guys are such a J.V city.

Posted by: bye-bye caps | April 22, 2008 10:30 PM

Regarding the comment from "POC" above who stated "Keep being proud of being the most obnoxious racist vulger pieces of trash in the sports world."

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it Washington, D.C. that named its PROFESSIONAL sports team after a RACIAL slur for a Native American?? The Washington Redskins?

Posted by: Drewsov | April 23, 2008 1:22 PM

Umm to the moron who wrote this, lets see where to start. The phillies won the 80 world series on the arm of a wonderful pitcher. TUG MCGRAW. The flyers have won the stanley cup twice. Then there was that bunch of guys called the broad street bullies. Yeah we know how to win in philly. But we also know how to beat the living hell outta someone if that's what it takes. We are not the nicest people in the world but having lived north of Chicago for 9 years they weren't the nicest people either and that was when the bulls were on their championship run. And to make the point hit home a little more the liberty bell was cracked saving everyone else's rear ends. So just think if the liberty bell wasn't rung and cracked a lot of us would not be here. Pick another example because who ever you quoted don't know what they are talking about. And just because we haven't won a super bowl (and when i say we i mean the whole southeast corner of PA plus some of south jersey and delaware) because those are the people that come to the games does not mean we don't love our team any less. They are our team. Maybe that's something other city's need to learn. Respect for your team.
