Morning Look: Blogging Erin Andrews

There are two ways to view this photograph of me and Blog Show co-host Jamie Mottram considering ESPN's Erin Andrews and Blog Show producer Adam Littlefield.

The first is as a carefully constructed commentary on the perilous foundation of sports blogging: the juvenile "hold-on-is-that????" wonderment, the detached near-spying by outsiders purposefully situating themselves in the background, the lurking-and-waiting by 30-something-white-guys staring primarily at women and minorities--here perfectly symbolized by one of creepy blogdome's favorite targets--all mixed together with an air of reserved amusement and a meta-wink at the absurdity of the whole enterprise.

The second is as a cheap publicity stunt featuring a pretty lady.

Anyhow, watch Erin Andrews on today's Spelling Bee coverage (semifinals live on ESPN from 11 am to 2 pm, finals live on ABC from 8 to 10), and then watch her Blog Show interview, airing on Comcast SportsyNet on Washington Post Live Tuesday evening around 5:30 pm. And thanks to Erin for playing along.

The "I think I'll just rub my chin and observe as a scholar" is the perfect way to watch Erin without seeming creepy. Classic.

yea... they're definitely considering me...

aren't you married?

Sport coats? What are you guys, journalists?

There's something a little less untoward about two older guys staring at a twenty-something blonde from behind when they wear sport coats. Kudos to you both for classing up the joint.

Uh, yeah, I'm married. This is just a joke. We weren't really staring.

And she just turned 30, so she's no longer 20-something.

Whoa! She's now a COUGAR!!! : )

Dark shades and a wicked stalking pose are missing from this photo.

In a major way.

Erin Andrews has nothing on Lindsay Czarniak!

MMM Erin Andrews. I would go online with her any day...

I'd imagine Ms. Andrews' presence has caused many a speller to stand behind the cover of a well-placed dictionary.

Nice shoes, Steinberg.

she sort of looks like heather locklear in that photo.

Erin is the best looking woman ever on ESPN. She has sailed beyond the Straits of Bernstein and Stark into uncharted waters. Lindsay is nothing compared to her.

Just because Dan's married, doesn't mean he can't marvel at the awesome pick-up skills of Littles.

Figures that BigLead would be looking at Steinberg's shoes instead of Erin Andrews. The USWeekly gig makes sense now.

Great that she's featured above a sausage. I would like to give her a sausage at a DC United game.

Still waiting for the Lloyd and Harry "Ooh, look at the buns on that one", "Yeah he must work out" joke.

Question is, who's Lloyd and who's Harry?

Dan, I'm pretty sure I saw you give Big Daddy Drew that same look a couple weeks ago.
