Portis: "Come Get Me Out of the Joint"
Clinton Portis's lengthy Redskins Radio Redskins.com/TV appearance this week led to discussions of his offseason presence at Los Park ("Mr. Snyder and Vinny really wanted me around"), his anticipation of said presence ("for me to give up my offseason, I really didn't want to do it"), his role on the team ("being the frontman for the organization....making sure people buy into the system"), his prospects in Jim Zorn's system ("I still got it....It's gonna be my opportunity to run wild....You gonna see a lot of foot races this year....You're gonna see what you want to see"), his style ("I go out and I play 'Big Man Football,' that's what I want to do, I want to run wild"), his thoughts on Sean Taylor ("Sean was the best player I've ever seen in football") and on Jim Zorn ("fresh air, a new feeling, everybody laid back and relaxed").
But the last minute-plus of the interview was likely the best: moving shots of Portis's golf attire (putting Caron Butler to shame), a shot of Portis flashing his car keys, Portis's promise to "get a speeding ticket when I live here" and his entreaty to Larry Michael to "come get me out of the joint."
They keys are Ferrari, by the way. Here's what Portis told The Reliable Source about cars two offseasons ago:
"Maybach [$325,000] is probably my favorite, but I'm a Ferrari [$240,000] guy." But since he got four speeding tickets just last year, Portis has downshifted. "I had to get rid of all my need-for-speed cars," he said solemnly. "I've got a Range Rover." He paused and grinned. "But I had it supercharged."
Don't let anyone tell you the man no longer has breakaway speed.

As soon as Clinton said, "Come get me outta the joint," Michael went 0-to-break in no time flat.
