Morning Look: Sliding Millz

Just a few short days ago, Morning Look was utilized in the following snarky manner: "here's the state of the Nats outfield, circa May 2008," with a photo of a Nats outfielder enthusiastically sliding and enthusiastically failing to catch a fly ball. Of course, it was a total cheap shot. So grade school.

Anyhow, here's the state of the Nats outfield, circa June 2008. As before, I'll merely quote from the caption, this time shot by the AP's Paul Connors: "Washington Nationals centerfielder Lastings Milledge can't make the catch on a flyball."

Well, sure he couldn't. But, just like last week, 'tis better to have slid and missed than never to have slid at all. That seems to be the prevailing philosophy, anyhow. Now if we could just get Wily Mo and Langerstonehans and Wack Mackowiak to dive and miss, this feature'll be taken care of for the rest of the week.

"I'm embarrassed," Felipe Lopez said, and although he was talking about the hitting, you know, it's a kind of all-purpose quote these days.
