Ovie's Take on the Beijing Games
This image comes courtesy of Konstantin E. Selinevich, the business manager to Alex Ovechkin. He reports that late last night, Russia time, 17 huge versions of this went up on the streets of Moscow. According to Konstantin's translation, Alex is saying to the Russian delegation, "Olympic athletes. You can do it. I believe in you. See you in Beijing. Alexander Ovechkin."
Of course, if some Russian pole vaulter needs 17 massive billboard exhortations from a tousled-hair, gap-toothed hockey player wearing his jersey over a collared shirt, the Russian delegation is probably already in some trouble. But it's a great-looking poster, anyhow, certainly better than any Crosby messages to the Canadian squad that I've seen. Here's hoping Young Nicklas can be called upon to motivate the Swedish Team Handball squad in upcoming days.

Guys come on he is obviously wearing the Team Russia National Jersey seeing how the advertisement is for the Russian Olympic Delegation! LOL!

I too assumed the Russian national jersey at first but its missing the blue and white trim around the shoulders.

Given the amount of effort that apparently went into that photo shoot, it was probably like "hey, Alex, how about bring red jersey, red like Russia, any jersey okay, okay?"

It's the All-Star jersey - you can see the NHL crest at the bottom of the collar.

Looks like Ovie's image is flipped. It's the left front tooth that's missing, not the right one.

It is flipped, the current NHL logo has the letters rising.

All NHL Jerseys have the NHL logo in front of the color these days. I don't necessarily disagree that it is an all-star jersey, but having the NHL logo there just means that it's an NHL logo. It's in the same place on all jerseys.
