The Mike Sellers Beard Returns

The first thing I noticed about Mike Sellers today? The beard, of course. You remember last year's two-toned training camp beard, dyed blond at the bottom, that prompted teammates to call him T-Pain? The beard that he then shaved off in mid-November, citing superstition and saying it was "time for a change?"

Well, it's back, and it's blonder than ever.

"I only did half of it last year; I did the whole thing this year," Sellers said, stating the obvious. "A little change. I played good last year when I had it, when I cut it off I kind of slowed down a little bit. I'm a little superstitious."

Sellers said he thought Chris Cooley's beard-growing contest was both "cool" and "typical Cooley," while Cooley had less kind things to say about Sellers's growth.

"I don't like it," Cooley said. "I think it's stupid."

Then security told me I wasn't allowed to stand where I was standing. "Can he stand right there?" Cooley asked, pointing to a spot several feet away, but that was no good too.

I asked Mike Sellers's girlfriend Jane Everets about his new facial feature; "he wanted to do the whole beard, with the mustache, but I told him, 'You might look a little...funny,'" she said. Then security told me I wasn't allowed to stand where I was standing.

Luckily, I had previously watched Mike Sellers and his new beard interact with some fans.

Fan: "I love you, Mike."

Sellers: "I can't say I love you, man."

Fan: "Can I get a picture, Mike?

Sellers: "That might break your camera. I'm not buying you another one."

Fan: "Yo Mike, that's your natural hair color, right?"

Sellers: "Yup. How'd you know?

Fan: "Sellers, I love you brother, can I get a hug, man?"

Sellers: "I'm supposed to be mean, man. I can't be hugging no one."
