Multimedia: Mine and Others
I wanted to onpass (that's foreign correspondent-speak; pretty glamorous, eh?) a link to business columnist Loren Steffy's blog in the hometown Houston Chronicle discussing Kenneth L. Lay's remaining personal wealth. His posting kicks you to a couple of other stories as well. In testimony, Lay pegged his current net worth at $250,000 in the red. This from a guy who made $223 million from 1999 through 2001.
Also, I did PBS's NewsHour last week, interviewed by Ray Suarez for his Enron piece. It's funny to do television from a remote location. If I were in D.C., I'd either go to the NewsHour studio or, more likely, just use the little television studio we have in our newsroom.
If you're on the road, though, you have to use independent video studios, like the one I was in here in Houston last week, that puts you on camera and feeds you live to whatever show you're on. The studio was actually about four studios and a huge sound stage. The experience can be a little disorienting, but you get to meet interesting people. The fellow running it had been an art director for movies for years, had worked with plenty of folks and had good stories. For instance: Chuck Norris -- really nice guy, as you'd sort of expect.
