Lay vs. His Lawyer
Kenneth L. Lay is contradicting his own lawyer now.
Prosecutor John Hueston quoted Lay's lead lawyer -- Michael Ramsey -- from his opening statement 14 weeks ago: "You only sold off Enron stock after you sold off all your other stocks."
Lay contradicted his lawyer's opening statement -- a statement that is carefully crafted between lawyer and client who've had months to work on the case: "That is not correct. I don't know what my attorney said, but that is not correct."

Hi Frank. Thanks for your terrific coverage of the trial. Between WP and the Houston Chronicle I've felt like I've been there. Lay's testimony has been more entertaining than I had hoped. I thought he would do a much better job for himself. Lay is probably the only person in America who thinks he has helped himself by testifying.
