In the linked article, Joel Mills, "a member of the executive council of Project Hope and Harmony" says "We believe published comments during the last month from both sides of this debate have been irresponsible... Most residents would agree that neither of these viewpoints are representative of the vast majority of our community."

[[[Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit on behalf of a group of Herndon residents against the Town of Herndon on September 1, 2005. Both federal and state law prohibits the Town of Herndon from committing public funds and resources in order to facilitiate the illegal employment of undocumented aliens. 8 U.S.C. § 1324 describes the criminal penalties of "bringing in and harboring certain aliens" while 8 U.S.C. § 1324a discusses the "unlawful employment of aliens." Also see Va. Code 63.2-503.1 which provides that "no person who is not a United States Citizen or legally present in the United States shall receive state or local public assistance."]]]
