Reston Transit Station To Open

A new Reston Town Center transit station is set to open Sunday.

The Fairfax Connector will offer bus service from the station, which is on Bluemont Way across from Library Street at the southern edge of the town center.

Routes that will stop at the station include numbers 504, 505, 556, 574, 605 and 950 along with Reston Internal Bus System (RIBS) routes 1, 2 and 3. Several routes will be changed, and many will adjust the number of trips. Tickets, schedules, maps and fare information will be available at the transit center in a few weeks, officials said.

For more information, go to http://www.fairfaxconnector.com or call 703-324-1175.

Thanks for the plush new waiting area.

It cost over a million dollars to build a funky looking slab of concrete with an attached security post and some new bus shelters.

The existing transit shelters were next to the last section of condos going up at Reston Town Center.

Did Fairfax County think all those people waiting for the bus who don't speak English might scare away buyers?

Your tax money at work.

Is this another subsidy for the restaurant and hospitality industry so they can hire people for less?

You should learn to read English carefully before you hurl insults at the wrong people.

The Fairfax County government, not me, is apparently "scared" enough to spend over a million dollars to move the non-English speaking riders away from the new condos.

My son transfers at the Town Center everyday on his way home from school. He'll be pleased that he won't be exposed to the elements everyday. Of course it would have been more useful if it'd opened in the Fall instead of Spring

I quote....
"A new Reston Town Center transit station is set to open Sunday" and
"Several routes will be changed, and many will adjust the number of trips. Tickets, schedules, maps and fare information will be available at the transit center in a few weeks, officials said."
So what do people do for the next few weeks?

I wonder what TR's son thoughts were when Rosa Parks passed on ...

We've come a long way and public transit is imperative to a healthy Reston.

He's in high school. Riding a bus isn't so complicated that it requires a college education
