I really don't see a professional veterinary office as inappropriate, as long as the veterinarian agrees to reasonable measures to dampen animal sounds-n-smells and not to use it as a kennel or boarding or doggy day care operation and not to have something like a dog run or pseudo dog park going on at the premises. (Okay, sometimes animals have surgeries that require overnight stays and that would be reasonable, I think, since it is part of providing veterinary care.) Basically, if it is just to be a comfortable medical office for furry friends, that sounds perfectly reasonable and professional to me.

The other owners seem to be concerned about dog poop (a valid concern that could be addressed easily by the hospital) and dogs in their courtyard. I guess they don't know that hospices, many hospitals, and other healthcare facilities consider animal visitors a healing and calming influence.

We've known Dani for almost 12 years. She's a wonderfully caring and responsible animal doctor. Both of our dogs have been under her care since puppyhood. As she says, the opposition is making assumptions. They haven't checked out her current business even though she has invited criticism.
It would be a tremendous loss to the NoVA pet-owner community if she were forced to leave this area or give up her practice. Please consider supporting her at the next hearing this coming Wednesday, June 21st.
Thank you.

Okay, so no dog poo (easy to pick up - most pet owners are very good about that, so I'm sure the vet's office would be, too) and no dogs in the courtyard. Still easy to deal with. If the vet is willing to live with some restriction, then I think she should be permitted.

Of course, I like animals... I suppose not everyone does.
