UPDATE 2/13: Man Charged in School Training Center Fire
From today's Metro section:
An Annandale man has been charged with setting a fire that caused $1 million in damage to a Fairfax County school administrative building this month, after an officer reportedly saw him flee the scene and drop his cellphone. The fire occurred at the Lacey Center, 3705 Crest Dr. in Annandale, shortly after 4 a.m. Feb. 3. Court records indicate that an officer responding to a burglar alarm saw Amer Ishtiwi, 22, running from the building. A car idling nearby contained items taken from the center and was registered to Ishtiwi's father, a search warrant affidavit stated.
Police obtained warrants for Ishtiwi, charging him with burglary, grand larceny, possession of burglary tools and arson, but Ishtiwi remained at large. The Lacey Center hosts instructional training for teachers and other specialized programs. A Fairfax schools spokesman said some employees were expected to return next week.

The articles implies that 150 employees can no longer work in their usual offices as a result of the fire. Not that 150 employees had to evacuate because of the fire early Saturday morning.

If this was a fire due to lack of maintenance on older electrical and HVAC systems, I am appalled. FCPS spends money in a slppy fashion. it does not chnage boundaries and builds unnedded additions yet does nt maintain taxpayers inverstments. Luckily this was not one of the older run down schools children have to be in.

Officer Chad Ellis who is working on this arson case made the comment years ago that he would not rest until he has destroyed my family. Now years later he's still determined to keep his word. There is no way an officer saw my brother at the Lacey center. My family and I have tried to complain in the past, just to be told our complaints are unfounded. How long does my family have to suffer at the hands of a spiteful Officer Chad Ellis. My family and I are American citizens, but are constantly treated unfairly by the Mason District police station. I honestly don't know if it's because we're Arab-Americans, but it's really starting t feel like it is. We have proof of the damage caused by
the many searches done to our home when the police searched for "guns". We're not terrorists, we're not armed, WE ARE AMERICAN CITIZENS. Can anyone help us, Please!?

Why were there 150 people in a noninstructional school building at 4:30 on a Saturday morning? Reporter should have asked that and put it into the story.
