Growth is Top Issue in Vienna Council Race
Five candidates will vie for three seats on the Vienna Town Council in a town election set for May 1. Growth issues and how Vienna's leaders hope to maintain the town's sense of identity amidst development pressures have emerged as the central issues of the campaign. Today's Fairfax Extra has the story.

I felt a need to post here to clarify some confusion in today's article on the Vienna Town Council candidates and their platforms.
It is true that I believe that the Town of Vienna needs to take a more proactive stance in defending and revitalizing our downtown corridor and I also believe that 35 feet is not an appropriate commercial building height for us at the current time. Note though, that I am NOT a proponent of any "high rise development." I have taken a pledge to the citizens of Vienna that I will not support any building height above 4 stories, which is a very modest increase and certainly does not approach turning Vienna into a "mini-Reston or Ballston."
It should also be noted that the statement "she and her husband have fought" the current Maple Avenue height restictions is patently false. While I agree the current restictions are too restrictive, my husband is a custom home builder - NOT a commercial developer - What happens to the Maple Avenue corridor is no concern of his other than a matter of personal aesthetics.
Lastly, it should have been made clear that while Ms. Stich and I do share many of the same ideas for the future of our town, we are each running our own independent race, and are not affiliated with or teamed up with the other.
