Getting used to the now-opened Mixing Bowl? Well, there's more. A formal announcement about the construction and operation of the express toll lanes scheduled to begin construction next spring on the Beltway near Tysons Corner is coming today. This article from this morning's paper has the details. And there will be more public money involved in the project, whose price tag is growing.

Thoughts?

People should look into the "study" that was used to approve this project. Nice... another Greenway. Tax dollars will be used AND I have to pay a toll to get any benefit... FOR 80 YEARS!!! Of course Connolly's name is all over this project. This project should die if it is still possible. If there is no place to go, the traffic will just back up at the end of the lanes anyway. It would be better to fix the interchanges along the beltway first, then (with much effort) work with MD on a non-toll beltway lane expansion. The argument about free lanes allowing more development along the road is bogus becuase there is no where else left to build along 495.
