UPDATE 4/29: Woman Recants Rape Claim

A Fairfax County woman, walking with her infant daughter in a Springfield shopping center, was abducted and raped Thursday night, Fairfax police said yesterday.
The 18-year-old victim, who lives in the Springfield area, was carrying her 3-month-old daughter in a portable car seat at the Commerce Plaza center, just off Backlick Road, Officer Tawny Wright said. Shortly before 8 p.m., a man armed with a gun approached the woman, ordered her to walk down nearby Dana Avenue and directed her behind a house, Wright said. Police said the man threatened the baby, then raped the woman and fled.
The baby was not hurt, and the woman was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital. The woman told police her attacker was a brown-skinned man in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with an average build, black hair and brown eyes. He wore a black shirt and black pants. Police asked anyone with information about the attack to call Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS.
