Hello mr. Meswani and Kaiser and others. Every country has its own culture and way of communicating. In Finland, especially in Helsinki, people are very hard to approach. No smalltalk, no bullshit. People won't even greet you. It's our culture, not racism. Same to everyone. It pisses me off, too, even though I'm a Finn, since it took me three years to make a friend since I moved to Helsinki from my hometown. But that's the way the culture in Helsinki just is. If you cannot accept and tolerate our culture, you're the one who's having a problem.

Maybe Finland should try to take in, instead of the black, all the rednecks who would like to live in a country where there is not a lot of different-race people ?

In the Soviet Union, it was not ok to believe in religions. That was the sensible approach, ahead of it's time. In Finland (as probably in US too) there are small towns where the opposite is true: be atheist (especially a younger one, older ones tend to move to bigger towns, in schools can be it is okay to be in a gang, be violent, etc. but not okay to be atheist, especially dangerous it is if you are the only one) and end up in a closed mental institution as the people who take their religion seriously can decide to take care of the purity of the faith (yes, I read the crap talk of the philosopher who probably never been out of Helsinki, a "red" town) - people of different religion are not seen as a threat (used to be the Karelians, who belonged to a different church, were, but not anymore) but that could well change.

The world is going to the extremes in religional matters and there are more sensible countries in Europe than Finland.
So why not try attract the believes-in-God rednecks here ? Especially any such who do not believe in contraception (as the population is getting older too fast)

To set up a business is easy in Finland. If it is profitable, I do not know.

They asked people 50-60 years old, what they do now that they are getting old:

15 percent said they will move abroad, at least for part of year (to warm places) another 15 percent said they would move if that was possible (money, language)- in reality, of all Finns, probably 80-90 percent would have moved, were it possible for them (find job/have money).

Actually, lots of homeless, including me, are not drunks (or have mental problems or a drug addiction, the other commonly used causes for homelessness) - the problem is lack of money, plain and simple.
Assholes in the social offices do not give it to all.

In smaller towns there is often no homeless officially but that does not mean that there would not be any. To the drunks the towns usually have shelters. To others not.

Personally, as a foreigner living in Finland and as a person with no interest in getting socially acquainted, I enjoy this country very much. My only problem is I don't really have a decent job (just part time jobs - the kind of jobs Finns are not interested to do I guess, cleaning and working as a lehdenjakaja), but as long as I have money to live/survive, I'm happy with it. If you like nature, beautiful winters, solitude, great Internet access, safety, all this and more, then you'll enjoy Finland like I do. I haven't set foot in my home country (France) for 5 years and I don't miss it a single bit.

One interesting thing I have noticed over the years of the media: the american view of the police as a helper, something that 'serves and protects' has got into peoples mindsets in europe too.
The reality is different, the police, at least in northernmost europe, is the biggest criminal group, they obey those with money and power (and sometimes even the small time crooks with connections) some even dare say so (not in finland, of course, where the polls always say people trust the police, like in any country where a dictator rules)
