Constitution Ave. Closed Near Capitol
D.C. police have shut down Constitution Ave. in both directions between 4th St. NE and Delaware Ave. due to a suspicious package found near the Hart Senate Office Building, according to MapTuit and broadcast reports.
The Metropolitan Police Department is trying to determine whether a package found at a private residence is an explosive device, according to TV reports.

I think it's a sad comment on society when this relly no longer surprises me as a supposed-or-actual cause for delays.

Speaking of Constitution Avenue, do you (Dr. G) know any details about converting the roadway in Capitol Hill from one-way to two-way during the AM rush? I heard rumors, which I have not been able to confirm, that DDOT intends to remove the one-way traffic pattern during AM rush and make the road two-way 24/7.

A couple of thoughts:
1) Another "chicken little" episode disrupting traffic?
2) How is this any worse that southbound 19th Street between M and K, where folks park illegally on both sides of the street, and others try to double-park every day, jamming up & blocking traffic.
Let's fix the ongoing issues that cost time and money every day, and worry less about stuff like this.
