Gas Main Break Closes Route 1 in Va.

Route 1 is closed in both directions at Monroe Ave. in Alexandria due to a natural gas leak, causing signficant delays, according to washingtonpost.com's Traffic service.

Don't know if Dr. G will see this, since the incident in question is over, but I noted this morning that the new US-1 bridge near Slaters Lane is due to open Sunday. It appears that it will be using reversible lane signals (the red Xs and green arrows that used to be common) for the time being.

Bet that mucks up the traffic on Monday morning.
