Lyricist's Lounge

If you're overly excited about the nascent beef between 50 Cent and The Game, then you should close your browser window now because I have officially declared that Asheru's "Imnomia" mixtape is leading the pack for essential hip-hop recording of the year so far. You can catch him and 2004 Wammie Award winner Head-Roc at Capital City Records on Saturday for a free in-store performance starting at 3 p.m.

Word up on the hippity-hop. Such a damn shame about the DC scene. It's sad that we're smoked by Cincy, Twin Cities, and the middle of nowhere, but hopefully Asheru will finally start a trend of DC MCs with something worth saying.

I was looking at all the acts around DC, and I must say things are looking up! Especially when I checked out the artists at www.StoneAgeOnline.com. Those folks ARE FOR REAL!
