That's a Wrap

Some of you Dupont worker bees have no doubt noticed that WrapWorks on the corner of Connecticut Ave. and Q St. has closed. As one Got Plans? reader asked:

Dupont Circle, Washington, D.C.: LOVE the chats! Submitting early due to a meeting. I saw that Wrap Works closed in Dupont Circle. It is certainly no loss to the neighborhood -- any idea what will be taking its place??

It took a bit of digging, but we do have some answers on that front.

WrapWorks closed due to a rent increase. The popular lunchtime eatery (or not so popular if you take the chatter's word for it) had been in the Connecticut Ave. space for 10 years, but couldn't afford to take out a new lease with today's rates (a story we've heard before). The owner still operates a WrapWorks franchise in Reston and may open another in Northern Virginia.

The building's owner, Michael Kain, tells us that an upscale, full-service restaurant will be moving in. We have yet to hear any details about the new place from the restaurateur, but we'll keep you posted as details emerge.

Seems like a strange spot for an upscale restaurant, right? Dupont's a popular destination and can always use another good dinner spot, but that corner feels better suited to fast food and sandwich shops than fine dining. The new place could change all of that.
