Saints Alive!

During yesterday's Got Plans? discussion, we heard from a number of New Orleans Saints fans who want to celebrate the team's first time in the second round of the NFL playoffs. This question from Arlington was pretty typical:

"For the first time in ages, the Saints made the playoffs. No better way to celebrate Mardi Gras like marching to the Super Bowl. Can you tell me where I can find other Saints fans to watch the game this weekend?"

Finding a place where there's more than one Joe Horn jersey in the room is a bit of a challenge, but I found a party that sounds right up Arlington's alley: The Louisiana State Society is throwing a game-watching event at the Crystal City Sports Pub. (State Societies are social groups for ex-pats living in the Washington area, and they host cultural events that celebrate the home states. Often, the groups have some of that state's Hill staffers involved.)

Expect a crowd of loud-and-proud Cajuns dressed in their best black and gold. Just make sure you get there early, though -- more than five dozen TVs make the Sports Pub is a popular destination for college basketball fans on weekends. I'd say you need to arrive at least 90 minutes before the 8 p.m. kickoff if you want to get a seat.
