Don't Pass Up Passover

Passover is rapidly approaching and with it arrive some enticing offerings from local restaurants. Most certified kosher establishments will close for the holiday, but a few spots are embracing Passover fare with both traditional and very eclectic dishes.

Dino in Cleveland Park has a five-course prix fixe menu ($49; $25, children) from Monday, April 2, through Wednesday, April 4. The dinner will include dishes from both Ashkenazi and Sehpardic traditions. The dishes will include chopped chicken liver, a Moroccan haroset, chicken soup with matzo balls, gefilte fish, mina pies made with matzo and eggplant or lamb and almond-meal cake. The restaurant will pair appropriate wines or waive corkage for those who bring Concord wine.

As Tom Sietsema reported in his chat yesterday, Felix will offer an a la carte Passover menu on Monday and Tuesday. Starters ($8) include matzo ball soup and latkes. Entrees ($18-$24) feature brisket and lamb.

Finally, Rosa Mexicano spices up Passover with a Mexican flair. Available Monday through Saturday, the specials will be available for lunch and dinner. Tropical haroset includes pears, apples and bananas as a starter. Other dishes include a roasted jalapeƱo matzo ball soup, beef tongue tacos, roasted chicken and a pecan, date and chocolate flourless cake.

If you're looking for take-out options, Balducci's, Whole Foods, River Falls Market and Dean & Deluca offer Passover dishes that can be ordered in advance. Where will you find your favorite Passover goodies?
