Artomatic Watch: Week 2

Tribal dancers, film screenings and art-and-technology presentations are on tap at Artomatic this week.

-Indies Rock: The DC Independent Film Festival presents a block of films in the Lapis Auditorium between 8 and 10 p.m. on Friday.
-Bonus Bellies: What is it with tribal dancers and Artomatic? DCTribal performed last weekend; tribal duo Romka hits the Cabaret Stage at 10:30 p.m. on Friday.
-Political Town, Political Film: Political films take over the Lapis Auditorium on Saturday night. At 7 p.m., check out "Public Witness," a 66-minute film that tells the story of Bush's first day as president of the United States. Tom O'Brien's "Commander 'N Thief," screening at 8:10 p.m., deals with controversies surrounding Bush's victory in 2004. (You read that right: the controversies of the 2000 election are old news to this filmmaker).
-Tech Team: Dorkbot DC, a collective of artists interested in the intersection of art and technology, hosts its monthly meeting in the Lapis Auditorium from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Look for presentations on art in the online digital world Second Life, glass art and technology and other art-meets-circuit topics.
-Photoshop for All: Adrian Loving, artist, DJ and multimedia master, gives a presentation on the basic functions of Photoshop in the Lapis Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 26. The presentation is geared toward artists looking to create a branded visual identity.
