Dinner and a Show

It's a classic conundrum. When it comes to dinner and a movie, do you opt for the movie at a normal time, then late dinner and off to bed on a full stomach? Dinner at a normal time and then a late movie where you could fall asleep? Not to mention the problem of snacks: Do you spend $15 on candy and a soda, starve or smuggle something in?

A resolution is ready to roll.

Casual Arlington neighborhood spot EatBar races to the rescue with new movie and dinner nights. Each Sunday at 8 p.m., the restaurant will screen a classic movie with a themed menu. Food offerings read somewhat like the choices at an old-fashioned drive-in. Choose from hot dogs, mini-burgers, corn dogs and other Americana eats. Gourmet concessions, including candies made at Buzz, are complimentary.

This Sunday, "Stand By Me" is on the big screen with grape soda cocktails and spiked lemonade. Free concessions include cherry Pez, white truffle popcorn and milk duds. Next Sunday, EatBar channels Rick's Cafe Americain with "Casablanca." Sip champagne, martinis and French 75s from the bar with free chocolate-covered raisins and truffle popcorn.

The only problem may be adjusting back to exorbitant jumbo tubs of stale fake butter popcorn and boxed candy after a taste of EatBar's free treats.
