News to Digest: The Valentine's Day Special

If you're a lover who dreams of cuddling up to your honey on Valentine's Day, feeding one another spoons of gooey chocolate cake or foie gras, here are a few restaurants whose special menus you might want to check out.

If what really excites you about Valentine's Day is the carte blanche access to chocolate, Bastille has an all-chocolate menu for you.

The menu incorporates chocolate into each course of the four-course meal. For $69 or $99 with wine pairings, lovers can try saffron cauliflower soup with white chocolate shavings, foie gras seared in cocoa butter, quail in port-chocolate sauce and tuna with a pepper and cocoa rub. Dessert? Why a flourless chocolate cake, of course. If you can't make it for Valentine's Day, the restaurant will extend the menu on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15-16, for $45 or $65 with wine pairings.

Cozy Firefly, which is Dupont's take on the favorite neighborhood bistro, has a four-course prix fixe menu for $75. The menu offers sweet potato and butternut squash soup, oysters Rockefeller, char with kabocha squash, lobster pot pie, mini pot roast and a warm apple crisp.

Juniper restaurant at the Fairmont hotel serves up a decadent meal for $60 per person or $80 with wine pairings. The fixed menu includes lobster ravioli with champagne and saffron crème fraiche, an asparagus salad with truffle vinaigrette, filet mignon and roasted halibut with a heart-shaped chocolate lava cake and strawberry ice cream truffles.

If one day of Valentine's attention is not enough, Mon Ami Gabi serves up romantic a la carte specials from Feb. 14 through 20. In addition to Valentine's cocktails, the restaurant will serve oysters, roasted lobster, dover sole and profiteroles.

Cleveland Park's Ardeo adds a touch of love to dinner options with three courses for $75. The menu includes baked oysters, beef carpaccio with roasted figs, lobster-fricassee, tuna and foie gras and a chocolate sampler.

The Caucus Room will have a four-course meal priced at $99 per couple. The meal includes a seafood sampler for two with a crab cake, seared scallop and calamari, a rack of lamb or filet with baked shrimp and chocolate-covered strawberries with champagne.

Black's Bar & Kitchen offers a three-course prix fixe menu for $75 per person or $95 with wine pairings. Choices include lobster risotto, seared scallops, an oyster tasting, black cod, pan-roasted duck with foie gras and a chocolate sampler, coconut trio or cheese plate for dessert. For $249, the restaurant also offers a dinner for two with champagne and a night at the Bethesda Hyatt Regency.

Russia House presents three courses for $55 per person. Diners can also opt for a pre-dinner caviar sampler for additional money. The menu includes duck confit salad, borsch, chicken Kiev, beef stroganoff, pan-roasted sturgeon and chocolate cheesecake.

Oya celebrates with a five-course menu that includes foie gras with poached pear, cod and lobster and a chocolate box filled with berries. The menu is offered at $125 per person or $155 with wine pairings.
