Before Christmas Fun

My boyfriend is coming to D.C. between the days of Dec 20-22. We are in our early to mid 20s and I just want to show him the charms of the city. He is also vegetarian so I was wondering if you had any ideas as to what activities we can do and what potential restaurants there are that I can take him to that have good food and reasonable prices? I've already decided the tree on the mall and near the Capitol as well as ice skating but any other ideas?

For the vegeterian, I recommend Middle Eastern restaurants, where you can get a number of stuffed vegetable dishes and other very yummy things that will suit your diet. My current favorite is Layalina in Arlington. Delicious, inexpensive and great ambience. I also like Neyla in Georgetown and Mama Ayesha on Calvert St.

As for a few other events, Terri Sapienza, a staff writer in the Home section, recommends the following:
A visit to the memorials in the evening after dinner downtown? The LIncoln Memorial is especially evocative at night. Cliched, perhaps, but fun for out-of-towners. Or, how about walking around and shopping in Georgetown during the day, followed by dinner on the water below K street and a movie at the Georgetown movie theater. Then, maybe, a late-night drink to end the evening.

As an ovo-lacto vegetarian, some of the restaurants I've enjoyed eating at include:

Asylum (vegan brunch) - Adams Morgan
Reef - Adams Morgan
Afgan Grill - near intersection of Calvert and Connecticut
