Christmas Dinner Out
Good morning. I've heard from no less than a dozen people in the last week who are eating out Christmas Day and want some restaurant recommendations. We initially answered this question a few weeks back, but because of the volume of requests I am reprinting our suggestions.
Erin Hartigan, the food and dining producer at washingtonpost.com researched this question and has these recommendations:
Hotel restaurants are a good bet for Christmas dinner. Cafe MoZU in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel is offering a traditional dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 6 to 10 p.m. The typically Asian restaurant has traditional Christmas dishes as well as a few items with Asian influence. The menu includes wild mushroom and truffle risotto, roasted goose breast, short rib in pineapple ginger beer and a dessert of white chocolate peppermint mousse.
Seasons at Georgetown's Four Seasons Hotel will also serve dinner beginning at 6 p.m. The restaurant offers its usual a la carte menu or a festive five-course prix fixe menu ($80). The latter includes wild branzino, roasted turkey or venison as entree choices and a baked Alaska to top things off.
Erin also says Open Table, a Web site for making restaurant reservations on-line, has a longer list of restaurants open on Christmas Day.
