Melanie loves sweets. She's recently lost 20 pounds and is training for a triathlon. Her hour-long commute each day means she eats and drinks in her car, a big challenge.

Good luck! I totally understand the "sweets" thing myself. I'm addicted to that class of food, though there is no class of food I don't like! But with sweets, if there are sweets in the house, I find them, even the ones I don't particularly like. I have discussed with my husband not bringing sweets into the house. We are working on that.

Great work Melanie. Remember to pack healthy snacks for work. Cliff bars are great and stick to water. Ill check up:)

I commuted an hour one way for seven years and saw a significant weight gain. Also, much less time for exercise. I thought eating made the time pass faster! Getting a Dairy Queen Blizzard several times a week was my reward for commuting. So good luck with the eating/driving challenge; your recent weight loss coupled with the triatholon training should be the incentive you need. I look forward to hearing your blog!

Keep up the good work. 20 pounds is a great start. Hold that through the holidays and you'll be fine! I'm trying to drop weight for next year's tri season as well. I have some catching up to do however! Good luck!

During your commute try books on tape/cd. It's a great way to keep your mind occupied and off snacking in the car.

Good luck in keeping the weight off during the holidays. I am unable to exercise due to a health problem so it is very difficult to keep my weight down. I usually gain 5+ lbs and become disheartened in Jan. I am in my late 70's and about 25 lbs. overweight so it is very important for me to take this challenge. Sally how about advice for the older sedentary people?
