Letters to the Editor

Dear DuValian,

I agree with the whole idea of the newspaper because DuVal has been labeled as the worst school in Prince George's County and the newspaper shows everyone that just a few problems occurred. We students of the school are still getting work done and winning scholarships. I also agree with the first page about that we too overcrowded because most of the fights and arguments in the school comes from everyone being in the hallways all at one time - that's what causes the stampedes. Also, I agree with page 11 because as young people or students they are really interested in what is going on in America today with racism, and the pressure it puts on the students in school. Keep up the good work with the newspaper.

Sincerely,
Faith Hunter

Dear DuValian,

I agree with the article "Are We Too Overcrowded? A Student perspective." written by Yaa Boateng and Chris Stevenson. Its true we are overcrowded. People cut in the lunch line causing some people not to have time to eat at all. Also, the hallways are too small to rely on the people walking in front of you to walk fast enough so you can get to class on time. We should have a longer time before the bell rings so we can be on time. We need to fix a lot of these overcrowded problems and either have 3 lunch periods.

Sincerely,
Janay McIntosh

Dear DuValian,

I agree with the article "Pure Strength" written by Abdul Bangura. I liked it because of how he makes the readers feel as if their really experiencing the action. The explanation makes you want to know more about the wrestling team. I disagree on how he started off. Also because it could had started off more exciting.

Sincerely,
Donnell Wahl

DuVal High School is the worst high school in PGC. The only bright side of DuVal are the honor students that try to make a sucess out of themselves. In DuVal there are a vaery few students that make honor roll and thats very sad. The proble in DuVal begins here.... Students are always in the hall ways, the adults the don't care, students are always cursing, the adults don't care, students disrepect the faculty and also the teachers. There was always a disturbance when I was teaching there. Students would walk out of class if you disagreed with them. It's just alot of nonsense in DuVal High School. I don't aways agree on suppension because school is based on education and when students get suppened that's not solving the problem. This is why students are behind in education and dropping out of school. Something needs to be done with this case. If DuVal had more rules students would obey by and the parents would take control in their son/ daughters lives this could be a better evironment. But if something don't happen soon, the turnouts wouldn't be great for these students. I always pray that students would get help

As a honor roll student I think DuVal High School was not for me. Students normally skip class, fight, smoke, disrepct adults, walk out of class, teachers can't teach because student is being disruptive, I can't forget about the fires and the fire alarms being pulled every other week. DuVal was the worst public school I ever attended. But now I attend a private school and this school have been wonderful. This school is perfect for what I want to persue in life. DuVal was like a scary movie to me. I'm glad and I thank god every night that I'm in a better enviroment.

Let me add to this scuttle. Several times I have been to DuVal I have been let down. I walk through the halls, and see students not in uniform. Why was I told I was required purchase shirts, when I see kids wearing whatever. I see doors sitting wide open for anyone to walk in, and also see students allowing people to come in, without asking a question. To me, that is not fair or just.

Why is when you go the guidance office, and you request assistance, you required to wait, because only person works in there, and she has her hands full being everyone else buisness. I dont like they way kids are treated, or how they are talked to. Something needs to be done.

Next issue, why does it take a parent to go the school, to have child readmitted, after the child brought a goverment issued document stating where he was the day before? An not only does he get treated like a second rate citzen, the parent gets yelled at like she is a kid at this school.

This is why DuVal gets called the worst school in PG County, because not only due they treat their children, who they are suppose to be teaching, like they dont have time for them, they also treat the parents the same way.

An just a note, I have went through proper channels to file complaints, I hope it does some good.

Faith Hunter, that article was horrible. Next time, before you write a crapy article with tons of gramatical structure errors, read over your terrible work. It sucked, your points sucked and your are a poor excuse for a writter. Keep practicing and you might get into pg... I wrote better in elemetary school
