After a disappointing season last year losing to School Without Walls in the first round of the playoffs, the McKinley Trainers have had a tremendous season this year. The Trainers are now undefeated with a 10-0 record. They are favored to win the DCIAA championship.

"Going undefeated is a great feeling and a great accomplishment for the school and the team, but it will mean nothing if we don't win a championship," said team captain Chris Evans.

The Trainers have been playing great offense but their pitching and defense has been remarkable. They have allowed only 19 runs and have scored 86 runs in six games this season. The Trainers are averaging 14 runs a game and are allowing only 3, outscoring their opponents by 11 points a game.

Against the Ballou Knights, the Trainers scored a season high of 23 runs and allowed 8. In that game, Captains Chris Evans and Michael McCreary combined for 6-9 with 9 RBI (runs batted in) and Kris Kornegay batted 3 for 4 and scored 5 runs and had 3 RBI . The team also combined for 16 stolen bases. Michael McCreary and Clarence Sly also had home runs.

"This has been my best season in terms of stats and as a team. We have a chance to go undefeated and win the division and it just feels great. Being a senior, I really want to win a championship, also. But most importantly, I am having fun," said McCreary.
