Gasoline: Weekend Worries

Concerns about rising gas prices are mounting ahead of the long Labor Day weekend. According to the Post, prices in the Washington area rose Thursday by an average of 5 cents, with some stations in Bethesda charging as much as $3.50. AAA estimates that 450,000 Washington area residents will be traveling by car this weekend, though it remains unclear how many people will change their plans because of the spike in gas prices. Officials across the region are on the lookout for price gouging and AAA officials are urging drivers not to rush to gas stations in a panic.

For more information, here's a handy FAQ on Washington's gasoline supply. AAA also has a price finder for travelers. John Townsend of AAA Mid-Atlantic will be on washingtonpost.com answering your questions at 3 p.m. today.
