Georgetown's First Win Over No. 1
According to TFBO2F's research staff, today's 11-7 victory over Duke marks the first time Georgetown has beaten the top-ranked team. The previous highest-ranked team that the Hoyas (4-2) had beaten came in a 14-9 victory over the-No. 2 Syracuse on March 5, 1997. TFBO2F was at that game, as a stringer for a now-defunct newspaper (though it was not our story that made the paper go under). We'll have more on Georgetown's win in the paper tomorrow and in our weekend wrapup Monday morning.

Leb--Thank you for the comment and congrats on Maryland's win over UNC. We covered Maryland's season opening win (and were the ones who came up with the stat about the last time a freshman scored four goals in the opener, as Catalino did this year). We plan to give the Terps plenty of coverage with UVa, Navy, Johns Hopkins and the ACC tournament coming up. Though I think you'll agree that Duke-Georgetown and Hopkins-UVa were deserving of the bulk of our coverage this week.

Hopkins is not dead yet. The Jays will be in Foxboro in May.

My appologies Christian. I missed the earlier Terps coverage.
Should be another fun spring of local Lax.
Thanks for giving us TFBO2F, Lax reporting has tended to be spotty around DC.

Great blog!! While we're speaking of MD. I am a shameless MD fan in all sports and especially lax. I have always wondered other opinions of Cottle. I have never thought he is the coach to take us all the way. He underachieved at Loyola when you take in to account the talent he had. I also think he has underachieved at MD with the talent he has had.
What has been the overall impression of him as a coach and his ability to lead a MD team?

Just a quick observation Christian.
Georgetown has a fine team this year and certainly will contend for a spot in Foxboro. But there IS another D-I lacrosse team in the Washington area (they're only a few miles outside the DC line). Ya might want to give them a look too. (The beat UNC 13-8 yesterday AT Chapel Hill).
