Last Minute Updates, and a Question...

TFBO2F noticed that the Maryland athletic department is hyping today's game against Virginia with TV commercials, complete with voiceovers from football and basketball play-by-play man Johnny Holliday. Not sure we had seen those before this year.

The UVa-UMd game is on ESPN2. Clearly, it's a big deal.

So on the heels of Inside Lacrosse's cover story about the best rivalries in the sport, TFBO2F is wondering, which rivalry do our readers enjoy the most? Army-Navy...Hopkins-Maryland...Maryland-Virginia...Landon-Georgetown Prep...North Carolina-Complacency...or any others...

Lax Swami made an argument last year that the best rivalry for the sport's growth is Army-Navy. That's the game that people across the country will watch--because people will watch just about anything that's Army-Navy. Agree? Disagree? Let us know in the comments.

In last-minute news: Maryland Coach Dave Cottle said he will use "multiple" defenses today, including a zone. Both TFBO2F and Inside Lacrosse's Geoff Shannon think we will see a good bit of zone from the Terrapins.

On an ESPNU broadcast earlier this season, analyst Matt Ward said that Virginia often attacks zone defenses with its extra-man offensive sets and plays.

Also--it is very unlikely that Gtown's Scott Kocis will play today. When he was injured in the preseason--an injury Wash Post told you about first--the best-case scenario was for him to come back in early April. That appears still to be the case.

Anyone hitting both UVa-Maryland and Georgetown-Navy at 5 p.m. at NMCMS? Or watching both on TV? fwiw, Maryland tickets are $8 adult, $5 student under-17. Parking for the most part is free. Navy tickets also are $8/$5. Parking is $5.

Army isn't even the Navy game I look forward to the most each year.

The rivalry I enjoy the most? Syracuse and Hopkins. The one that connects with the most people nationally? Duke and Hopkins, because of name recognition and close, dramatic games.

Hop vs. Maryland and Prep vs. Landon are my votes.

Before Syracuse vs. Hop there was Hop vs. Maryland and I am more of a "traditional guy".....

War on the Shore is a great one too....
