Week That Was, Part I
TFBO2F was enjoying the Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton on BBC Five Live. But now that Alan Green is annoucing the last 22 minutes of the first half, we figured we'd do some work rather than listen to his anti-Man United screeds. (Though he is good on "606.")
Quote of the Week
It's going to come down to the faceoff battle and goalie play. If we win those things, we have a chance."--Maryland Coach Dave Cottle in Saturday morning's Washington Post. Maryland's goalie had 15 saves and the Terrapins won 15 of 23 faceoffs. They defeated top-ranked Virginia, 13-7.
MVP of the Week
Maryland senior MF Will Dalton had one goal, one assist, four groundballs and won 8 of 14 faceoffs against Virginia. Inside Lacrosse's Jon Brand thought Dalton was the deciding factor, too.
In Any Other Week, MVP Would Have Been...
Georgetown sophomore LSM Barney Ehrmann. He had two interceptions, two takeaways and four groundballs in an 11-10 overtime win over Navy. The Midshipmen didn't like any of their matchups with Ehrmann. The only chink in his armor came in a childish display in front of the Brigade of Midshipmen in the second half. Ehrmann has long hair. The Brigade was probably getting on him the way Man United fans get on Alan Green. It was reminiscent of Maryland's Joe Walters saluting the Navy fans after each of his goals in a 7-6 loss in 2006. Childish.

Christian, good articles today in the paper ... and more that one, finally.
Now that I know you must be the lacrosse beat reporter I can vent my frustration with the Post's coverage of the game. Stories are intermitant. Scores are posted inconsistently. ( Like today ... UMBC-SB, but not JHU-UNC ?? C'mon ! )
I undersatnd that space/coverage picks up a bit after basketball is over ...but overall it's really weak. I admit that high school coverage has been pretty good in the last 2 years, however.
Tell you editors that they're in the country's best media market for lacrosse. Major college, high school, youth, pro ...it's bigger and more concentrated here than in Long Island or Baltimore. Readers are out here ...and the Post (you)could be the recognized coverage leader for major US dailies.
How do we help you get better recognition for lacrosse's audience potential with the Post editors ?
Thanks
