An Alert Reader

Ken from Silver Spring wrote to ask, how did the Denver-Ohio State game draw 29,601 fans? TFBO2F just assumed that the school had made attendance mandatory for the students, a la the Brigade of Midshipmen at the Hopkins-Navy game. And that 29,000 students showed up but the other 21,000 either didn't get the message or were off rioting somewhere.

But actually it was because the lacrosse game was played before the OSU spring football game. It wasn't necessarily clear from the OSU releases, but the AP story from the football game is pretty clear.

Ohio State lacrosse coach Joe Breschi has always said that football coach Jim Tressel is very friendly with the lacrosse team. He lets the lacrosse team use the football's state-of-the-art weight room, for instance, and says hello and chats with lacrosse recruits when he's around. Tressel had been an assistant at Syracuse, so he is familiar with the sport.

Anyway, check back later today for some CSI:-style analysis of the weekend that was.
