Silver Stars Beat Mystics, 63-52

I don't know what the fourth quarter looked like, but it sure sounded ugly. The Mystics scored just 6 points in the fourth and just 17 points in the entire second half. For a few minutes as the clock wound down, the Mystics and Silver Stars traded turnovers, combining for nine in a row without a shot. Alana Beard led the team with 13 points and new addition Crystal Smith, who started at point guard after joining the team at practice in Phoenix on Wednesday, chipped in 10. San Antonio standout Sophia Young left the game with an injury.

Sunday, the Mystics travel to Connecticut to face the Sun, who just beat the red-hot, previously undefeated Minnesota Lynx. Tomorrow, the Mystics Insider will bring you a preview, but for now you can:

Glad to see this blog reporting on the away games. It may feel rough now, but at some point-- August, or 2009-- the set of posts here will attract tons and tons of viewers who want to learn the history of their suddenly good team (whenever that suddenness comes). It's happened before!

Hey Steve, I agree with you about August. In fact, I'll bet the house that the Mystics won't lose more than two games that entire month.

Yeah, that's what they're saying at the Nationals blog, too, Steve. Good luck with that.
