Through two

So the Nationals (and if you didn't notice, they're not exactly fielding a lineup of regulars today) went down in order in both the first and second against Ricky Nolasco.

(And seriously, if you haven't checked in in a while, look at the news below about Pedro Astacio. It's much more interesting than the in-game stuff.)

Chico battled in the first inning, throwing a ton of pitches. He walked Dan Uggla with one out, and then had a pretty fierce struggle with Miguel Cabrera, as good a hitter as he'll face in the regular season (except, perhaps, Pujols). After Cabrera fouled off several two-strike pitches, Chico got him to check his swing at a breaking pitch for strike three. Impressive. Might have thrown 25 pitches that inning, but got out of it unscathed.

Bottom of the second, he allowed two-out, groundball singles to Reed and Treanor, but got out of it with a lazy fly ball from Nolasco. So at the end of two:

Nationals 0, Marlins 0
