Um, not to alarm you or anything ...
... but here's how the game has gone so far.
Felipe Lopez triple to deep center.
Ronnie Belliard grounder to second to score Lopez. (Nationals have now scored in back-to-back first innings.) Nats 1, Cubs 0
Ryan Zimmerman walk. (Zambrano thought the 3-2 pitch was a strike. And now, he's upset. And the Cubs haven't redone his contract. And ... well, implosion to come.)
Ryan Church hard double to right, sending Church to third.
Austin Kearns gets a 1-0 fastball at his belt. He does not miss it, putting it in the seats in left center above the 368 mark, a three-run homer. Nats 4, Cubs 0.
Dmitri Young hits a blast to center, but Jacques Jones makes a diving grab in the gap for the second out.
Brian Schneider walks, bringing up Kory Casto, who strikes out.
Still, coming into this game, the Nationals had scored four total runs in the first inning in all their games. They got four.
We'll see if Bergmann can make it stand up.

They seem to be liking Zambrano's pitching today... they need another big inning, error-free ball and an above-average Jason Bergmann

Thanks natsfan. I didn't realize it was a real term. I thought they were making stuff up. :)

"Ryan Church hard double to right, sending Church to third."
God, that kid's talented.

I suppose we'll be getting a LOT more of this as the Ryans multiply.....

You're welcome JennX. One of the things that I love about baseball is its rich lexicon. If you're so inclined, you might want to check out Paul Dickson's "The New Dickson Baseball Dictionary." It's very comprehensive in coverage of terms and is a fun read to boot.

Speaking of which, maybe we should clone some Ryans?

I'm all for cloning some of those Ryans. Any of the Ryans, either. And not just for baseball related purposes, either. Take that as you will.
