Typing in Alex Rodriguez's name just now in the cleanup spot for the Yankees, I was reminded again of how surreal it is to think back to a year ago, when Joe Torre unceremoniously demoted A-Rod to the eight-hole in the ALDS. I think A-Rod was clearly stung and embarrassed by that move, but here he is a year later, coming off arguably the best year of his career, back in the cleanup spot, and full of hugs for Torre after the Yankees clinched a week or so ago.
In many ways, he's THE story of this postseason, don't you think?

"In many ways, he's THE story of this postseason, don't you think? "
Too soon to tell...if he has the same postseason he usually has, then the story's been told way too many times to make news yet again.

That was ridiculously bitter, wow. What is it that's so wrong about A-Rod?

uhhh, he's a Yankee?
Nice lineups, Dave. Thanks!

All those hugs for Torre, but about ZERO chance he's back with the Yankees in '08.
Kinka like the "kiss of death" from the end of the Godfather.
The bitterest revenge of all is if he's playing for Boston next year....

He could be back if his attitude and bat carry over from the regular season, and the Yankees don't wish to see him opposite them in a Sox uniform. (That would be kinda funny, considering his dust-up with Jason Varitek in 2004.) Even Jeter's sticking up for him now. I'm hoping he does well so he's no longer the postseason goat of New York.

I'll take him in exchange for Manny Ramirez & a bag of balls. Deal?

Thanks for the lineups, Dave, and for just listing the positions instead of the numbers (I still have to translate in my head, "7= left field," etc.). This is much easier. No offense, Barry. ;)

Oh, I forgot, the Mets are now collectively the goat of New York.

Be kinda ironic if the exact opposite thing happened this year, i.e. A-Rod winds up being the only Yankee able to get a hit during this ALDS, while his teammates whiff air at most of their at-bats...
And oh yeah, they STILL wind up not advancing... :-)

My 86-year-old aunt sent a dispatch to all of her nieces and nephews saying that we should root and toot for the Tribe to "beat the pants off" the Yanks. So even she is endorsing the sans pants theme...

Actually it was "knock the pants off," but either way it could be very embarassing to be a Yankee!

You mean, more than usual? Overpaid, underachieving (in general... lately... like, last several years).
(OK, so I can't say anything good about the Yankees... So sue me!)

Holy [RF]!!! Bacsik on ESPN as an analyst! I was sitting in a bar having a beer and a bite with my dad and I say "that guy looks like Mike Bacisk, boy won't he be a great analyst one day."
AND IT IS!!! How was he? I couldn't hear, fill me in!

You're preaching to the choir in my case, Wigi. :)

Section 506,
OUR Mike Bacsik, or Mike Bacsik, Sr? Either way, 'tis awesome.

Our Mikey. Someone on another online community said that he did pretty well.

I think he's THE story of the postseason in the same way Bonds is THE story of the season. An annoying perversion of baseball hyped up by ESPN that the rest of the baseball world is kinda sick of tipping it's hat to.
Maybe I'm just the fan of a losing team.
