Oh my God! Where are my pants?
Just kidding. 34-32s are on, and have been on all day, as best I can remember.
Some notes from Phils-Rox: Cole Hamels needed 40 pitches to get through the second inning. He allowed three hits, three walks and three runs -- also managing to retire three batters. The Phillies phell in a 3-0 hole. (If the Phillies remain in this postseason long, I phear you will see an embarrassing number of phake spellings in the newspaper.)
Hamels has now worked six innings. He has needed 63 pitches to get through the other phive phrames (sorry, I can't help it). In those five innings, he has allowed no hts and no walks, striking out five -- for a total of seven strikeouts on the day.
Through four innings, Colorado's Jeff Francis had allowed one hit -- Hamels's single to left in the htird. He had six strikeouts in those four frames, and it took until the fifth batter -- and his 24th pitch -- for the Phillies to hit the ball phair. Then, in the fifth, Francis allowed back-to-back homers to Aaron Rowand and Pat Burrell (the second a Citizens Bank Park special, into the first row in left), and the Phillies were within 3-2. He allowed a hit and a walk in that inning as well before escaping.
Now, Francis has pitched a 1-2-3 sixth against Utley, Howard and Rowand. It's 3-2 Rockies going to the phinal phrames. Good stuff.

You should consider wearing 34-32 sized PJs to bed. Saves waking up in denim, khaki, or whatever other flavor of legwear you were wearing the day before. That is all.
Thanks for the gratuitous pant-size, btw. Between that, Sheinin, and natsfan1a simultaneously (in a previous thread) asking the Rocks to "bring the lumber," we're off to a stellar start to the postseason. Or at least a pants/their contents-focused start.

Does anyone know historically how winning Game 1 of the LDSs relates to winning the series? I thought at one point it was pretty heavily weighted towards Game 1 winners winning the series overall.

No matter their pants size, the pitchers definitely seem to have the upper hand today. 22 strikeouts and counting by both teams... Most impressive performance: Chase Utley, 0-for-4 with 4 Ks. Ryan Howard gives good competition with 0-for-4 with 3Ks.

Darn right, Atlanta. I also like the Rocks because they have the biggest concentration of former Nats within the organization and because they have a smaller payroll (gooooo underdogs!!). Also, I once indexed a book about one of their minor league affiliates, the Sky Sox, and I was rooting for them by the end of it.

Not so sure about the color pairing in his shirt-tie-jacket combo, but they did look clean at least. Definitely, though, Manny's wardrobe choices were better than those of the buzz-cut Asian guy who was one of the interviewers. I guess he must be one of those WaPo guys with a wardrobe and personality made for print rather than TV. Those print guys need to wake up and realize that there's more to dressing yourself well than knowing what your pants size is...

Manny's wife must not have had input on the combo, but I thought it worked for him. ;) As for the other fellas, I'm not crazy about the untucked dress shirt look myself.
On a more substantive note, I like Manny's policy of not getting on his guys in public (unlike, say, Ozzie Guillen).
