Yankees-Indians: Game 2 lineups
I'm here in Cleveland. Sheinin's in Boston. I'll be in Denver tomorrow. Sheinin will go to New York.
Now that we've got that straight: Joe Torre sticks with the same htiters against the right-hander Carmona, reasoning he likes Doug Mientkiewicz's defense over Jason Giambi at first, and is counting on Hideki Matsui as the DH against the right-hander Carmona. "He's been here five years, and there aren't many players that I've trusted more than him in key situations," Torre said of Matsui.
Someone pointed out to Torre that there are a lot of Yankee haters around. "Really?" he said. Kidding.
New York:
Johnny Damon -- 7
Derek Jeter -- 6
Bobby Abreu -- 9
Alex Rodriguez -- 5
Hideki Matsui -- DH
Jorge Posada -- 2
Robinson Cano -- 4
Melky Cabrera -- 8
Doug Mientkiewicz -- 3
Andy Pettitte -- 1
Cleveland:
Grady Sizemore -- 8
Asdrubal Cabrera -- 4
Travis Hafner -- DH
Victor Martinez -- 2
Ryan Garko -- 3
Jhonny Peralta -- 6
Kenny Lofton -- 7
Jason Michaels -- 9
Casey Blake -- 5
Fausto Carmona -- 1
Start is in half an hour.

Suzie Waldman said last night that the Yanks have lost the 1st game of every 5 game series they have won since 2000.

Apparently, there IS a Cleveland curse...

Even though the Indians left a crucial game in Detroit to personally attend a playoff game to support me, I like Derek Jeter and am going to sit with my posse in primo seats at the Jake with my Yankees hat on.

Was it just me or did Joe look old and tired last night? Of course, getting your butt whipped like that is tiring, but as someone who has loved him since he was a catcher for the Braves, I am concerned.

When TripleX Intertass goes off the air at sunset, you can hear the broadcast on 880 am WCBS. Even as a life-long Yankee hater, I like listening to John Sterling and Suzie Waldman. And can Jorge Posada bring the blue collar lightnin' to his team! Gotta love "Georgie."

Quoi? Can someone fill me in on this story? I live under a rock and am usually unaware of most things.

La Bron James, of the Cleveland Cavaliers, is in Yankees gear and rooting for them at the stadium.

Posted to an earlier thread, but for those without cable tv access, you can watch the batter/pitcher cam, dugout cam, and studio cams (or a mosaic view combining all of them), from the team sites via the TBS Hot Corner link. You'll have to turn on the radio for the play-by-play.

Joe's looked old and tired for the past five years (or at least however long it's been since the Yanks actually won the WS).

Let's be real about this: Joe's looked tired since about 1969. He just has one of those faces.

He does. It's the dark circles under the eyes, I think.

Let's try that again, oh rejected post gods. Dave has a new post up.

Naw, I got that part. I was wondering about the Indians leving a game in Detroit to support LeBron.

Oh, okay. I don't know about the other part, either, but maybe somebody else does.

Think how lucky we are to have the Nats to root for! The Mets collapsed, and now the Yankees (from Steinbrenner on down) are showing their age. Even the younger players on the Yankees look either bored or tired. There was brave talk in the clubhouse after last night's game by Petite and even A-Rod about how the Yankees will bear down and win three straight, but I doubt if even they are buying that.
A-Rod is not old, but he sure plays funny. When he strikes out or pops up with men on base, or takes his $280 mill place at third, he seems to be a performer rather than a player (and his idol was Cal Ripken!). Is that really the same guy who burned up the AL during the regular season? So much for the MVP. Damon and Matsui look over the hill, Jeter is steady but no longer the spark plug, Posada's exhausted.
An ugly end to the Steinbrenner era. One could almost feel sorry for them.

Fave entomology-related excerpts from Barry's gamer:
"The Yankees, to that point, had all of two hits -- one of them Melky Cabrera's solo homer off Carmona in the third. But the true swatting had begun, and artistry was replaced by absurdity."
runner up:
"Perhaps the RBI goes to the midges?"

My guess is that, come Opening Day 2008, either Steinbrenner will be gone, or A-Rod or Cashman will be -- perhaps both.
The fans and the ownership are getting their comeuppance for their arrogance.
