A nailbiter here

Fish in the third, against Jason Stanford, a lefty: De Aza grounds to second, Guzman boots Andino's broken-bat grounder, and Hermida grounds into a 4-6-3 double play.

Nats third, facing Chris Volstad: Guzman grounds to second, Milledge pops to left, and Zimmerman singles hard to right. (That would be three at-bats, three singles for Zim this spring.) But the inning died when Nick Johnson grounded to first.

And now, some HSCS "Fun Facts": The PA guy is asking what the world's largest air craft carrier is. There is no a) b) c) choice on the new scoreboard in left. But the answer is: the "USS Ronald Reagan."

With that, we get to "Tequila" over the PA system. Plenty of good seats available for tomorrow's game vs. the Orioles.

Marlins still up 1-0. Kory Casto replaces Zimmerman at third. But the other starters remain in for the Nats to start the fourth.

Has MASN stated when they are going to start televising the games?

Steve (or anyone) --I signed up with gameday audio. Audio finally came in. But,is the line score all we can see? During the regular season (for free) there was a lot more info such as balls and strikes.

That's what you see all year. I know there's a new media player that you can download, and I don't know what features that one offers.

There were times I listened to the game while watching the balls and strikes in the other window, but it was kind of frustrating, since the audio is on a five-second delay (per FCC regulation).

(Sorry for the double post.)

The "chalkboard" display wasn't on GameDay Audio (that I ever recall). But if you go to the MLB scoreboard page on ESPN.com they have "GameCast" which launches a pretty keen Java (I think it's Java anyway) app window with that stuff. I think it is only during the season and post-season though. It can tend to lag and hang up, but when it's working well it's very cool.

I was on Despair.com trying to find the perfect poster for the Scoreboard situation. What do you think of these?

Incompetence - When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.

Ineptitude - If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly.

Give Up - At some point, hanging in there just makes you look like an even bigger loser.

The new media player, Silverlight, claims to feature "integrated game information." You can install it by clicking the "Try the New Mediaplayer" link in the upper right hand corner.

Unfortunately, I can't install it at work, so I can't tell you what it looks like.

Acutally the delay you hear is not really FCC mandated (they don't - usually - have it when they are on a homestand to help out those of us who like to listen in the stands - or need to because of vision problems). It's caused by the fact that the signal goes thru multiple stops on the way to your computer (the stream can be as much as 30 seconds behind reality).

I love despair.com.

How about:

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups

Uh, are you going to post several times per game during the regular season? I look at my Google Reader and it is full of updates of a friggin' spring training game. This is deadly!

Please, make the madness stop.
