After four ...

... it's still Marlins 1, Nats 0, and this'll be the last update for me for a while, as I have to head to clubhouse and start hacking.

Stanford did a nice job, and has now given way to Mike Bacsik. Stanford allowed a single in the fourth, but then went strikeout, fly out (deep to center) and fly out (shallow to left).

In the bottom of the fourth, Kearns popped up, The Weapon beat out a single on a grounder down the line at third, Escobar popped up and Belliard flew to center.

Matt Whitney has now replaced Nick Johnson at first.

And a clarification and correction, straight from the Nats' Lisa Pagano (a GW grad herself): the scoreboard is actually 4,811 square feet (I think the video board is the smaller square footage), and the GW-St. Joe's game is NOT open to the public.

Dave and Charlie will have to take you home from here.

Rough day for Bacsik so far. He's allowed two runs on three hits and just sailed a throw to second over Guzman's head.

Tried the Silverlight media player and I have to say that I'm a bit underwhelmed (it's okay looking and they don't appear to be updating it in real time, but it _is_ spring training).

I think I'll stick to the original media player and run a GameCast window from ESPN (the coolest think about that one is the pitch location they show for each pitch during an at-bat).

Good to know. I won't bother downloading it at home, then.

bummer about not being open to the public.

does that mean there will be *no* fans there? or will students get in?

Mackowiak gets on by an error after Dukes's walk, but seemingly has hurt himself. Out he comes.

According to the story I saw about it students and families will be invited to attend.

From the Nats site:

The game will be privately ticketed and is not open to the public. A limited number of general admission tickets will be made available to the GW community after March 10. A valid GWorld identification will be required.

Let's see, no GWU fans at the DC Ballpark. Near as I remember that is basically why we (GW) gave up D1 (or whatever it was called, then) Football in the mid sixties. No fans at DC Stadium.

"...the GW-St. Joe's game is NOT open to the public."

Looks like some fans have caught wind of this and are preparing to storm the stadium (scoreboard image,2:58PM):
