Goodell Gets Five-Year Deal

NORTHBROOK, Ill.--Newly elected NFL commissioner Roger Goodell agreed this evening to a five-year contract, a league official said.

The official said he did not know the financial terms of the deal. But when the owners discussed contract terms with the finalists earlier this week, they said the new commissioner would have an annual salary of more than $4 million.

That's a healthy income, for sure, but it's far less than the more than $9.5 million that Paul Tagliabue made in his final year as commissioner.
