Buccaneers, League Discussing Wallace Hit on Simms

Tampa Bay Buccaneers officials are talking to members of the league office about the hit they believe caused quarterback Chris Simms's injury during last Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Buccaneers officials believe that Simms most likely was hurt on a fourth-quarter hit by Panthers defensive end Al Wallace. It's not clear yet if the league will discipline Wallace for the play. Wallace was not penalized for the hit by the game officials.

Simms underwent emergency surgery following the game to have his spleen removed and might be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
