Chargers' Kiel Won't Play This Weekend Following Arrest

Safety Terrence Kiel is not accompanying the San Diego Chargers to Baltimore for their game Sunday against the Ravens following his arrest this week on felony drug charges.

The Chargers plan to pay Kiel but have told him to stay home.

Kiel was arrested Tuesday on two counts of transporting a controlled substance and three counts of possession for sale of a controlled substance. The Associated Press reported today that Kiel admitted to Drug Enforcement Administration agents that he shipped at least two parcels of prescription cough medicine to Texas.

According to the agency, codeine-based cough syrup can be used to enhance other drugs, the AP reported.
