M. Lewis Critical of Arrested Linebacker
Cincinnati Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis was highly critical today of his linebacker, Odell Thurman, who was arrested early this morning on a drunk driving charge while serving a four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.
"I am not pleased," Lewis said, according to the Associated Press. "It's not right. It's not what we stand for. It's not what the National Football League should represent."
Thurman became the sixth Bengals player to be arrested this year. Lewis said he would not be surprised to see the league suspend Thurman for the remainder of the season.
"He just obviously doesn't understand the privilege and the right to play in the National Football League," Lewis said. "This will probably be dealt with very severely."
