Niners Extend Contract of CB Spencer

The San Francisco 49ers signed cornerback Shawntae Spencer to a five-year contract extension worth about $17.5 million, including a $6 million signing bonus.

The deal runs through the 2012 season. His contract previously was to expire following the 2007 season.
