Owens Case Now Classified as Accidental Overdose
IRVING, Tex.--The Dallas police department announced today that it was classifying Tuesday's incident involving Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens as an accidental overdose instead of an attempted suicide.
David Kunkle, the police chief, made the announcement at a late-afternoon news conference. He said he supported the initial report filed by officers that termed the case an attempted suicide, but further investigation led to the reclassification.
On Wednesday, Owens denied the account in the original police report, saying he had suffered an allergic reaction after taking prescription pain medication and nutritional supplements.
